Former Additional IGP Iqbal Bahar arrested
Former Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP) Md. Iqbal Bahar has been arrested by the Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). He was arrested from a house in the Bailey Road area of the capital on Friday evening. He was last arrested as Additional IGP of Rajarbagh Telecom in the capital. DMP Joint Commissioner (DB) Nasirul Islam confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo. He told Prothom Alo that Iqbal Bahar is now in DB custody.

Later in the night, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali told Prothom Alo that three cases were filed against him in connection with the July coup last year. He has been arrested in one of them.
Iqbal Bahar previously served as Commissioner of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP). Later, he was transferred to Rajarbagh T&IM as Additional IGP. He retired from there in 2019.
